DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of west central Texas, including the following counties, Coke, Irion and Tom Green. * WHEN...Until 900 AM CST. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 552 AM CST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Robert Lee, Mertzon, Arden, Carlsbad, Water Valley, Grape Creek, Sherwood, E.V. Spence Reservoir Near Paint Creek Recreation Area, Us-67 Near The Irion-Tom Green County Line and The Intersection Of Highway 208 And Ranch Road 2662. - This includes the following Low Water Crossings... Ranch Road 859 crossing west Rocky Creek, Ranch Road 853 crossing Middle Concho River, Ranch Road 853 crossing east Rocky Creek, RM 853 crossing Dry Draw, Old Angelo crossing Antelope Creek, Valley View crossing Jack Miles Creek, County Road 202 crossing Lopez Creek, Sherwood Cemetery crossing, County Road 202 crossing Spring Creek and crossings along County Road 411. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

INSTRUCTION: Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

Altostratus clouds form at mid to high-level altitudes (between 2 and 7 km) and are created by a warm, stable air mass which causes water vapor to condense as it rise through the atmosphere. Usually altostratus clouds are featureless sheets characterized by a uniform color.

In some cases, wind punching through the cloud formation may give it a waved appearance, called altostratus undulatus. Altostratus clouds are commonly seen with other cloud formations accompanying them.

Cirrostratus clouds are high, thin clouds that form above 20,000 feet and are made mostly of ice crystals. They sometimes look like giant feathers, horse tails, or curls of hair in the sky. These clouds are pushed by the jet stream and can move at high speeds reaching 100 mph.

What do they indicate?
They indicate that a precipitation is likely within 24 hours.
